It&#8217;s a long trip, a total of 19 hours from start to finish.<\/p>\n<p>The Saturday before you leave Broken Hill,\u00a0call NSW TrainLink on 13 22 32 and book a ticket using your Seniors card on the 03.45 bus\/train service from Broken Hill to Bathurst via Wilcannia and Dubbo. The fare will cost you $2.50. <a href=\"https:\/\/transportnsw.info\/document\/2493\/western-nswtl-tt2018.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The full Broken Hill to Sydney timetable<\/a><\/p>\n<p>While on the phone also book Bathurst to Lithgow on the NSW TrainLink coach that leaves Bathurst bound for Lithgow at 17:50.<\/p>\n<p>This trip is divided into four sections. Bus from Broken Hill to Dubbo, train from Dubbo to Bathurst, bus from Bathurst to Lithgow and finally a train from Lithgow to Sydney. That brings the whole fare to a total of only $7.50.<\/p>\n<h3>Broken Hill to Dubbo<\/h3>\n<p>The bus departs Broken Hill at 03.45 and makes a refreshment stop at Cobar for 30 minutes and then proceeds on to Dubbo where it arrives at 13:25. The bus terminates at the Dubbo Railway Station where you&#8217;ll alight for the train. There is an air-conditioned railway refreshment room at Dubbo Station.<\/p>\n<h3>Dubbo to Bathurst<\/h3>\n<p>The train departs Dubbo at 14.15 and arrives into Bathurst at 17.05. There is a buffet car on the train for refreshments.<\/p>\n<h3>Bathurst to Lithgow<\/h3>\n<div id=\"attachment_320\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-320\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-320\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cardhacks.com.au\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/victoria-hotel-138-1-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.cardhacks.com.au\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/victoria-hotel-138-1-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.cardhacks.com.au\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/victoria-hotel-138-1-272x182.jpg 272w, https:\/\/www.cardhacks.com.au\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/victoria-hotel-138-1.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-320\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Victoria Hotel opposite Bathurst Railway Station<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Once you arrive into Bathurst you&#8217;ve got 60 minutes before the coach departs for Lithgow at 18:15 if you&#8217;re traveling M-F from the Bathurst Railway Station. If you&#8217;re traveling on a Sunday the coach departs from the Bathurst Railway Station at\u00a0 17:50.\u00a0 Here&#8217;s the <a href=\"https:\/\/transportnsw.info\/regional-western-line\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Bathurst to Lithgow timetable.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The coach service is shown on page 22, so just scroll down the PDF (service # 568).<\/p>\n<p>You&#8217;ll be able to get a drink at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.victoriahotelbathurst.com.au\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Victoria Hotel<\/a> opposite the station, but that&#8217;s about it. They also offer accommodation and meals.<\/p>\n<h3>Lithgow to Sydney<\/h3>\n<p>The coach from Bathurst arrives at Lithgow Railway station at 18:50.<\/p>\n<p>The Opal train service leaves Lithgow at 19.48 and arrives at Sydney Central at 22.41. Here&#8217;s the <a href=\"https:\/\/transportnsw.info\/routes\/details\/intercity-trains\/bmt\/02BMT\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Lithgow to Sydney timetable.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>You&#8217;ll have close to an hour in Lithgow. Here&#8217;s a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/search\/Restaurants\/@-33.479913,150.1555632,17z\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">map of the eateries in Lithgow<\/a> with their opening and closing times. You&#8217;ll see from the map that there&#8217;s not a lot open in Lithgow on a Sunday night.
